Lambeth Academy receives the International School Award
23 October 2009
Lambeth Academy, sponsored by the United Learning Trust (ULT), received the International School Award at a ceremony held in London on 16 October. George Alagiah, BBC Broadcaster and journalist, presented the awards.
The DCSF International School Award seeks to celebrate, develop, recognise and accredit outstanding practice in the international dimension of the curriculum. It is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools and aims to help young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need to live and work as global citizens.
Ms Schmidt–Roberts, Assistant Principal and International Coordinator who received the award on behalf of the academy, said: “This is for all our teachers and pupils who worked so hard over the past several years to include the global dimension into our ethos and curriculum.”
The British Council has published the Award Rap in which Lambeth Academy features as a school which has “reached for the skies” with its work. The academy was also commended for its application for the Link2Learn Award. The academy’s own portfolio of evidence is still kept by the British Council as exemplary work and will be used for training purposes. The academy will be working with other local schools to help them work towards attaining the International School Award.
