The Regis School opens its doors for first day as an academy
6 January 2012
On Wednesday 4th January The Regis School welcomed students and staff for the first day of a new term, a new year and in its new incarnation as an academy.
Sponsored by the United Learning Trust which also sponsors Shoreham Academy and Midhurst Rother College in West Sussex, The Regis School begins 2012 with a bright new future.
David Jones, Principal of the academy, said that staff and students were committed to making the very most of the opportunities afforded by becoming an academy but that the beginning of a new term meant very much business as usual.
“Today marks a very special moment in the history of The Regis School as we become an academy. We spent a long time researching the merits of academy sponsors and are delighted to be joining ULT and having the opportunity to work closely with colleagues in a national family of schools and academies. In particular we look forward to working closely with the other two ULT academies in West Sussex.
“Our students are very inquisitive about being part of an academy and what it will mean for them. There is a great deal for them to look forward to but at the same time, it is the beginning of a new term and our focus is entirely on hitting the ground running during this vital part of the academic year.”
David Wootton, Southern Regional Executive, welcomed the Regis School into the ULT family of academies:
“It is wonderful to welcome The Regis School into ULT as our newest recruit in West Sussex. David Jones and his colleagues are on a journey to accelerate improvement and ULT is here to help them in that process.
“Later this term we will hold a special event for students and staff that will formally welcome them into ULT. We value every member of our team and every student. We have a strong presence in West Sussex and look forward to the contribution that The Regis School will make to our Group.”
